eBay Announces iPhone Apps for Selling and Classifieds

eBay has announced two new iPhone applications today to keep the the original app company – one built for sellers looking to keep tabs on their auctions, and another for what was once Kijiji, and is now rebranded as eBay Classifieds. eBay Selling handles quite a bit, including creating auctions on your iPhone, complete with pictures, and the ability to check prices on similar items to figure out what your starting bid should be, and track who has paid you for what. There are added options for presets to enable automatically filling in many fields, like handling time and return policies. If you download now, eBay will toss in four free pictures and scheduled listing for free until the end of April.

eBay Classifieds are a bit different, but if you’re familiar with Kijiji, you’ll get the gist of it. Through the iPhone app, you’ll be able to post and peruse local ads selling stuff (including a dedicated pets section), arranging carpools, finding housing, and just about anything else you’d expect from a standard classifieds section. Geo-awareness keeps things close to whereever you are (only within the United States, of course), and a watch list can ensure you’re always on top of items you’re looking for. Kijiji was a popular alternative to Craigslist, and will likely garner even more attention after the facelift.  eBay has been doing good things with mobile, and vice versa: during the announcement of these two apps, they mentioned casually that they’re selling one item per two seconds through mobile, and should sell $1.5 billion-worth of goods through mobile in 2010. Hooah.

In any case, if you’d like to find more information about eBay Selling and eBay Classifieds at their respective pages. eBay apps are also available on Android and BlackBerry, if you’re rocking something else.
