Motorola ROKR E8 musicphone with touch-keyboard gets spec’ed out

That near mystical musicphone from Motorola is finally getting some real-life specs. This isn’t the Nokia N95-fighting ELBA handset that we relayed from the rumor mill some time ago, we’re talking about Motorola’s not-so-secret MOTOROKR E8. The boys over at GSM Helpdesk have gotten the inside line on the Motorola ROKR E8 musicphone’s spec-sheet.

Adding to the beautifully sleek, black finish of the handset, the Motorola ROKR E8 will be sporting a backlit, touch-sensitive keypad that seems to partially-reconfigure based on the current function being accessed. The interesting direction-pad is something Motorola is calling the “Omega Wheel,” and will be used for music and menu navigating. The “Omega Wheel” uses haptic feedback to let navigate through the phone’ menus without having to actually look at the screen.

And, speaking of looking at the screen, the MOTOROKR E8 will feature a 256K color QVGA screen that isn’t all that big, but not all that small either. We’re expecting the E8 to rock a 2 megapixel camera, 2GB internal storage, microSD card slot, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and work with GSM frequencies.

We’re looking for Motorola to drop this ROKR E8 on us in Q4 of 2007 at a 280 Euro price point. This ROKR seems like a perfect companion to the Motorola RIZR Z10 that Stefan mentioned. More details as the emerge.
