Sprint drops Phone-As-Modem plan to $15 – Wireless modem on the cheap

Just yesterday we were reporting on rumors that Sprint was planning to give their data-centric aspirations another big push by dropping the price on their “Phone-As-Modem” (PAM) data plans. The Sprint PAM plan allows Sprint logocustomers with qualified data plans to use their 3G-capable mobile phones as wireless modems. The PAM plan add-on essentially allows Sprint customers to turn their cellphones into broadband data cards.

The PAM plan was previously a more-costly $40 per month, decidedly more pricey than the new $15 a month price-point. Sprint is definitely moving to make their mark on the US wireless landscape as the premier data provider. And, with the most pressing barrier to entry just about removed from the equation, Sprint could indeed see a boost in data subscribership.

The Sprint PAM plan is applicable to new and existing data plans for an additional $15 on top of data plan costs. Just keep an eye on that 5GB data limit.
