Apple loses appeal to block Samsung’s Galaxy tablets

Samsung got a victory its long legal battle against rival Apple over allegations of patent infringement in the Netherlands. A Dutch court rejected Apple’s appeal to stop Samsung from selling its Galaxy tablet in the country and this is huge because it opens the door for all Dutch subsidiaries to distribute the Tab throughout the European Union.

The Dutch judge made the ruling after determining that the Galaxy tablet displayed more differences than what Apple led on, as the court compared the gadget’s thickness, screen icons and dotted lines with several other design specifications in question.

These two company’s have been going back and forth with allegations of patent infringement for a while now. Apple took the first shot by suing Samsung last year, accusing the Korean-based manufacturer of copying its iPad and iPhone through its Galaxy device. Then Samsung shot back with a feeble attempt, stating that Apple should not be allowed to sell devices that use 3G mobile technology patented by it, which is ridiculous because 3G tech is so relied upon today.

This whole strategy of suing companies for patent infringement just stifles innovation in my opinion. Honestly, companies should be more worried about coming up with the next big thing and improving customer satisfaction, instead of spending its time fighting in court rooms.
