Voyager Mobile launches a few days late

After a hacker attack killed their launch slated for last week, Voyager Mobile has announced this morning that they are officially open for business. Voyager Mobile is the latest Sprint-based mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) to launch, and runs on Sprint’s 3G CDMA and 4G WiMax networks. Voyager offers an unlimited talk and text plan for $19 per month, with unlimited data bringing the monthly price up to $39, plus any applicable local, state, and federal taxes.

Voyager has a decent array of phones available for sale, ranging from the basic Samsung M370 flip phone ($119) to the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch ($549). As you’re paying full retail price for a device, you won’t be tied to the customary contracts carriers force you into when you purchase a subsidized phone. Provided you are okay with being tied to Sprint’s network, Voyager Mobile is a viable alternative to the costly subsidized voice and data plans currently available from major (and even many regional) carriers.

Those looking to get in on Voyager Mobile’s plans can head over to the Voyager Mobile website, pick out your device, and activate your line of service once you receive your phone in the mail.
