Sprint to launch LTE on July 15th in select cities

Sprint is working double-time to finally get its LTE network rolled out to the masses. The company today announced the launch of its long awaited 4G service in the following cities: Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, and San Antonio. This is an aggressive move to speed up the process of overhauling its 3G and 4G improvements.

Now we shouldn’t have to explain how awesome this is. Sprint will get way better data speeds on its new 4G network, while the agonizing slow speeds of its 3G network will get much better (trust me, as a Sprint customer I can relate). 3G users can expect better signal strength, fewer dropped calls, and faster data speeds as well. Yay!

We know this means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things, as Sprint laughably trails Verizon’s LTE network by miles and miles. But does that really matter? In the end, Sprint won’t be able to match Verizon’s data speeds, but it will continue to kick Big Red’s ass when it comes to pricing its cellular plans — it’s just much cheaper.

The Now Network plans to launch in more markets this year with plans to build out the 4G LTE network to serve 250 million people nationwide by by the end of 2013.
