Tobii C12 Windows tablet rocks eye tracking and control?

Sweden-based Tobii Technology is working on a novel product – Windows-based tablet marked as C12. What makes this device particularly interesting is its built-in eye tracking and control technology that apparently allows users to access a number of different programs without a single mouse click or tap on the screen.

It is said that the special UI is connected to the built-in webcam, tracking your eye movement to control the mouse pointer. To click on an icon, all a user have to do is blink with his/her eyes.

Sounds super-promising though we first need to try it out to have a real judgment. One could easily imagine a device like the C12 being of great help to the people with disabilities as well as geeks willing to test out new things. Hopefully, we’ll have more information about the C12 in the near future…

UPDATE: Actually, the C12 tablet was originally introduced in 2009, specifically for use by the disabled with the eye-tracking functionality coming built-in. In other words, this isn’t something you’ll be able to buy in your local computer store, and is instead designed for mounted use on a wheelchair or bed…
