China Mobile will join a number of other carriers to offer its own-branded devices in order to “fill gaps” in the market that the company feels are not served by other handset vendors.

During the China Mobile Global Developers Conference 2012 held in Guangzhou, the carrier’s CEO Li Yue said that China Mobile will also make accessories under its own brand.

He added: “However, we will not compete with other industry mobile phone vendors,” using Wal-Mart Stores as an example – “When Wal-Mart sells other producers’ merchandise, the company also provide customers with its self-branded products.”

Li also had a thing to say about possible cooperation with Apple, saying that China Mobile and the Cupertino-based company still have to solve many issues, such as “the business model, articles of cooperation and revenue division, but I believe we will reach an agreement eventually.” No dates were given as you can tell. 😉
