The Nokia E90 just launched in Finland, limited quantities of course, and during a press interview Antti Vasara, General Manager of the Mobile Devices Business Unit said a few interesting things:
Nokia is not too enthusiastic about touchscreens, since all their tests had shown that users prefer keyboard and joystick for an input device. But they are ready for touchscreens if they see the demand.
Consumers don’t like to learn using new shapes/form factors on mobile phones. That’s why Nokia E70 isn’t selling well.
Nokia will be launching entirely new type of mobile next year.
What in the world could it be? His two comments completely oppose each other. If customers don’t like to learn about new shapes and form factors then why are you bothering to launch a new type of mobile phone next year?
