FCC give the go ahead for the Nokia 6300: Do you guys really care about stuff like this?

The FCC webpage reveals the approval of the manufacturer’s new slim (half inch) stylish candybar phone – the Nokia 6300. This is a tri-band (850/1800/1900 MHz) GSM phone, and its European version packs 900 MHz band instead of 850. The phone was announced at Nokia World show, two weeks ago, and the approval now means it can already hit the stores. The Nokia 6300b has 2-megapixel camera, QVGA display, microSD slot, FM radio and Bluetooth v2.0. Running on Series 40 interface, it is packed in slim, stylish and solid construction, which gives for its “high-end device feel", similar to that of the Nokia 8800 thanks to a metal frame and back.

Important question to my readers: do you care about stories like this?

I mean on the surface I’m glad to report things like this, but deep inside after it soaks in I really just ask myself: “If I really want this phone what the hell is the FCC going to do to stop me from getting it?”

I have a Nokia E61, which is from Europe, and it works fine here. I have a Nintendo DS from Japan. I imported a few CD’s from the UK. Welcome to the 21st century where we have international shipping at low prices and pretty quick delivery times too.

So I’ll ask you: do you care about FCC approval news or would you rather not hear about it? I don’t mind posting it, but I figure if you read this blog you’re probably hardcore enough that you don’t care what country of origin a device is from, you’ll get your hands on it some how.
