Rumor: Dell to launch a smartphone in China in a few days

With little to no shame, I’m republishing a rumor from TechCrunch that may or may not prove valid, and if it does prove to be true, then it doesn’t really matter to you anyway. Dell, once upon a time the largest PC manufacture, is rumored to be launching a smartphone in China in a few days. They [TechCrunch] think it will run Android, to which I say it probably will, but not the Google flavor, but instead the Chinese flavor known as OPhone. Granted, if this speculation is actually true, chances are we’re going to see it hit the European and Asian markets at some point this year. In March of this year, Dell CEO Michael Dell said the company plans to enter the smartphone space, and just a little under a month ago, Ronald Garriques, President of Dell’s Consumer Division, said that the company is working with the top four international mobile operators to see what their needs are. We’re waiting Dell. We’re waiting to see if you can make something a bit more exciting than your boring notebooks.
