I’m not quite sure what’s the idea behind the findNano iPhone app. It allows users to check whether some consumer product is nanotechnology-enabled or not. The application comes with a database of more than 1,000 nanotechnology-enabled products, from sporting goods to food products and electronics to toys. In addition, users can improve the database by submitting new products which they know come with nanotech.
From the official press release we find out that the idea is to make PEN’s Consumer Products Inventory more accessible for today’s consumers, though I’m not sure about the benefits. Do you really care to know whether a piece of technology you’re using has some nanotechnology inside or not? The application is unsurprisingly free and you can grab it from here.
