Conspiracy Theory: Google Phone rumours were started by Apple; it’s all lies

Eldar Murtazin, Editor in Chief of Mobile-Review, is calling bullshit on this whole Google Phone (aka Nexus One, aka HTC Passion) saga. Here are several of his tweets:

  • “Hmmm Google Phone is a kind of fake finaly. Just finish conversation with some guy from Google, story looks in other way then it was discuss”
  • “Google employees are testing some features of upcoming version of Android 2.1 on HTC Passion which was called Google Phone (=Android phone)”
  • “Some rival company used misunderstanding to lauch rumour about Gphone and new business model from Google (which arent true).”
  • Twitter user @merajc asked Eldar: “any clue about who this rival company is?” to which he replied: “For sure is Apple – they fight against future Moto products”

Whether or not you believe Eldar is up to you. I would say out of 10 rumours he publishes, 8 of them are true.

I still remain a skeptic. I do not believe Google will launch their own device. If they do it would be suicide since their partners would basically tell the “do no evil” company to piss off.
