Nokia X2: 5 megapixel camera, quadband GSM/EDGE, no 3G, but it’s only $112

The Nokia X2 was announced today, and it once again proves that a company like Nokia, thanks to their scale, can introduce devices at price points that are simply unheard of. For 85 EUR, or $112, you get a fairly compact 111 mm x 47 mm x 13.3 mm phone that weighs only 81 grams. Now yes, the 2.2 inch 320 x 240 pixel screen may be small by today’s standards, but you get a 5 megapixel camera, support for all the GSM/EDGE bands, a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, dedicated music buttons, integrated FM tuner that has an antenna built it, stereo speakers, over 25 days of standby time, and over 13 hours of talk time.

It even has support for Bluetooth 2.1, and can take microSD cards up to 16 GB, but we’re thinking it should also support 32 GB cards once they become more common place.

This device is a steal, and while it may not be for many of you out there, it’s going to fly off the shelves in many parts of the world. The keypad looks a bit difficult to use … but that’s the price you pay for design.

Update: Oh and it should hit the market before the end of June. CCS Analyst Ben Wood says it’ll ship with Nokia Comes with Music in India in Q3.
