Motorola’s (Nexus 2?) comes out from the ‘Shadow,’ gets WiFi certification

We were starting to wonder what happened to the Motorola Shadow. We got word of this device way back in early January, with a little more information later that month. After that, it seemed as if it had fallen to the cutting room floor. But, we’re happy to have some excellent news for those who were interested in this device. The Motorola Shadow (Nexus 2?) has officially gotten its WiFi certification!

In what could certainly become the Nexus Two, the Motorola Shadow may be the Nexus device that could be aimed for business users. Even with that ugly looking wrist strap on the side, the device has quite the potential to take on the latest and greatest. Since all we have to go on are the renders that had leaked before, there is a good chance that the hardware has changed a bit on the Shadow. What refinements they made, if any, is anyone’s guess, but they are all probably for the better.

What we can expect from this bad boy:

  • 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen
  • Full QWERTY slider keyboard
  • 8MP Camera with autofocus
  • microSD up to 32GB
  • Android 2.2 (Froyo)
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1

Looks like the Evo 4G may have some good competition coming its way. Still, we don’t know what carrier the device will be on, or if it will even actually best the Evo 4G in any way (aside from the full QWERTY keyboard). The original expected release date for the Shadow was the first half of this year. Now, still in line with the first release projection, we should see this phone out and about in the 2nd quarter of this year.

If this is indeed the Nexus Two we are looking at, then I’d say that we may see this device announced at the Google I/O in May. With Adobe confirming a public preview of Flash 10.1 at the I/O, with a general release in June, what better way to show it off with a brand spanking new Nexus device? Stay tuned, as we’ll be searching to find anything more on the Shadow.
