Want to sneak an iPad in Israel? Can’t do it, even if you’re a supermodel!

Everyone wants an iPad these days, supermodels included. One such person is Bar Refaeli, who was caught at Tel Aviv’s international airport trying to bring in the newly purchased device without declaring it at customs. Declaring goods is required in Israel for every product worth more than around $200, and iPad definitely costs more.

We don’t blame Refaeli for trying to get her lovely hands on Apple’s tablet. Heck, we don’t even blame her for not paying duties — I’m sure she wanted to do the right thing, but apparently the iPad was in her suitcase that was lost in transit. Now imagine the situation – would you really be in a hurry to declare anything when you’re out of your pants? I know I wouldn’t.

Anyway, Refaeli is now required to pay 650 shekels (about $170) in taxes and fines to get her iBaby back. That’s a small change for any supermodel, but that’s not the point here. The point is – despite being super sexy, iPad can be a trouble, too! 🙂
