ZTE Optik Android tablet landing on Sprint for $99.99

If you don’t mind signing a two-year contract with a carrier in order to get an Android tablet on the cheap, then we have some good news for you. Sprint just announced the availability of the ZTE Optik, a 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet that will run a mere $100. ZTE is about to push itself into the US market harder than it ever has, and while we’ve seen some lower end devices coming from the company, the Optik is a well-rounded tablet that should please just about anyone who picks Read more

Verizon’s ZTE V66 LTE Android tablet caught at Bluetooth SIG

Just like Sprint which will soon get the ZTE V55 Optik, Verizon Wireless also wants an affordable tablet in its portfolio. And that would be ZTE V66, which we caught at the Bluetooth SIG. Specs wise, we’re talking about a device that’s almost identical to what Sprint will be launching, with its specs that include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 7-inch 1280×800 pixels touchscreen, 4,000 mAh battery, dual camera, LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity; while Android 3.2 Honeycomb is running the show (most likely upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich). Unfortunately we don’t Read more

ZTE pays Microsoft around $27 for every Windows Phone that they make

The ZTE Tania recently launched in the UK. It’s ZTE’s first Windows Phone and it features a 4.3 inch screen with the same 800 x 480 pixel resolution that all Windows Phones are required to have, 1 GHz processor from Qualcomm, 5 megapixel camera, no front facing camera, and that’s about it. There’s nothing really special about the Tania except for the price, which has yet to be revealed, but it’s expected to be rock bottom. Note that the Tania recently launched in France without any ZTE branding; SFR is Read more

ZTE looks to China and the United States to double the amount smartphones they currently ship

Lv Qianhao, Head of ZTE’s Handset Strategy, recently gave an interview to Retuers where he revealed some of the company’s ambitions for this year and beyond. First up is smartphones. The company predicted that they would ship 12 million of them in 2011, but they apparently “far exceeded” that goal. That’s a bit vague to be honest, but whatever, their mission for 2012 is to double the number of smartphone sales they had last year. Regarding total device sales, meaning smartphones and feature phones, ZTE set a target to ship Read more

UK: T-Mobile Vivacity now available for just 89.99 GPB on PAYG

Remember the T-Mobile Vivacity, the carrier-branded mid-level Android smartphone we talked about in November 2011? It was launched with the 99.99 GPB price tag and now the Deutsche Telekom-owned operator decided to slash its price by 10%. In other words, interested users can grab the ZTE-made Vivacity for just 89.99 on pay-as-you-go tariffs. No contract signing required, though you’ll have to buy a 10 GBP top-up with the device, which you’ll need anyway. Specs wise, T-Mobile’s baby comes with a 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, Read more

Hands-On: ZTE 7-inch tablet with Tegra 3 and Ice Cream Sandwich

If you thought just seeing the upcoming Asus-made, Tegra 3-packing, 7 tablet from afar was a nice thing to see, you may be happy with what you see right here. While it likely won’t be coming to the US anytime soon, if at all, after cruising around the NVIDIA booth we saw a tablet from ZTE. Not only was this tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but it also has the Tegra 3 running the show. We couldn’t get a real feel for the device since it was tethered to the Read more

CES 2012: ZTE Booth Tour

ZTE is still far from a household name in the U.S. While they do offer some consumer products — like the brand new 4G hotspot ZTE Jetpack from Verizon Wireless — they’re still far other handset makers. That said, they did show some decent products at the CES, though I can’t say we were that impressed. Will the Chinese company do something about it in 2012? Most likely, but as far as know how these things work – they’ll start with mid-tier products, gradually building brand awareness to eventually launch Read more

FTV Phone launched by ZTE and Fashion TV

Fashion TV is joining the Android smartphone race with its own product – FTV Phone. Developed in partnership with the Chinese handset maker ZTE, it’s basically a rebranded version of the ZTE Blade, which we also know as Orange San Francisco. Yep it’s the original San Francisco, not the new (better) San Francisco II. To continue with the sad news, the device comes with Android 2.2 Froyo on board and we’ve no idea whether the Gingerbread update will ever be released. On the other hand, this and the fact that Read more

White Orange San Francisco II coming soon

Orange’s San Francisco II will soon be available in white. Such a device already “earned” a place at the carrier’s “Coming Soon” page though we still don’t know when exactly it will be released. Aside from a different color, there won’t be any other changes included. In that sense, expect the same 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera on the back, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth while Android 2.3 Gingerbread will run the show. As for the price, something tells us it will remain the same (as the black version) Read more
