AT&T revamps smartphone data plans: more data for more money

AT&T is at it again! The carrier that has stolen the hearts and wallets of millions is revamping its smartphone data plans. You’ll be getting more data but for a higher price. Luckily, the changes aren’t all that bad this time around. The current data plans look like this: 200MB for $15 per month, 2GB for $25, and 4GB with tethering for $45. Sony unveiled an interesting gem tonight at CES 2012, as it introduced the Android 2.3-powered Walkman Z1000 series Mobile Entertainment Player to go against the iPod touch and the Galaxy Player. Vimeo to release mobile apps for Kindle Fire, Android and Windows Phone

Online video website Vimeo is making the jump to mobile with a new application that’ll let you upload, watch and share videos using your mobile phone. It’s a combination of improved camera sensors and 4G LTE connectivity that makes this step a timely one for the video website. Mobile phones now account for about 15 percent of Vimeo’s site traffic, says Joe Schmitt, Vimeo’s lead mobile developer. The company doesn’t go into the details about the phones visiting its site, but an increasing number may be 4G phones. Dropbox 2.0 for Android gets facelift, improved productivity tools

Dropbox released version 2.0 of its Android app this morning, and it’s a complete revamp of the last version. Rogers today announced a great new app for their digital TV and internet customers that happen to also own an iPad. Rogers Live TV will stream some 20 stations over Wi-Fi directly to an iPad, including the biggies like CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CBC, and YTV. Google secures last-minute licensing deals for its music store

In the final hours before launching its music store, Google has reportedly signed licensing agreements with three major record labels. A report from the Wall Street Journal claims Google will have deals in place with Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and EMI when it kicks off the service at a Wednesday event in Los Angeles.
