In-car app market to be worth over $1.2 billion by 2017

In its latest study, Juniper Research is looking at the smart vehicle market, which according to them, will become the new frontier for app developers over the next five years. European contactless payments grew 46% in the last three months

Visa Europe said that contactless usage has reached a critical point of adoption across Europe, with monthly transaction numbers reaching more than 19 million in March 2013. Global smartphone shipments are set to surpass shipments of basic and feature phones this year. According to the latest Smartphone Quarterly from NPD DisplaySearch, smartphone shipments will reach 937 million units in 2013, compared to just 889 million units for basic phones and feature phones. Between 2011 and 2016, smartphone shipments will grow at a CAGR of 26%, to 1.45 billion units, accounting for two-thirds of the mobile phone market. Verizon snags top spot for customer service in latest survey

Once again, Verizon has topped all other major U.S. carriers in the latest survey for customer service. According to the annual American Customer Satisfaction Index survey, Big Red was ranked highest in customer service quality by subscribers. The survey was conducted by using a 100 point system. Verizon scored 73 points, while Sprint came in second place scoring 71 points; AT&T came in third followed by T-Mobile taking the fourth spot. BlackBerry’s Canadian market share grows to 13.5%

Canadians obviously want BlackBerry to succeed and have flocked in numbers to support the company’s new BlackBerry 10 devices, including the Z10 and Q10. According to latest figures from the research firm Raymond James, BlackBerry is steadily gaining its Canadian market share back. From its sunk market share of 6%, it managed to grow to 13.5% of the Canadian market.
