Cricket Communications has recently announced a $5 monthly service for unlimited mobile video downloads.

Customers can watch clips of 1 to 4 minutes in length, such as music videos, sports news, movie trailers and more, without being charged for data transferred.

As we’re living in the “social web world,” Cricket included the special feature to allow users to search and make video recommendations.

The service is available now with any Cricket plan and works on selected handsets through a WAP browser.

Commenting on the new service launch, Cricket’s Scott Edwards said: “This service provides customers a new opportunity to personalize their handsets. Whether they opt for Reggaeton videos or YU-GI-OH! clips, all customers can appreciate the value of unlimited downloads for one low flat rate.”

HTC Touch Diamond theme for the iPhone

HTC Touch Diamond theme for the iPhone

I’m not sure many iPhone users will like the idea, but now they can make their shiny handset feel like the HTC Touch Diamond. Even if you’re a hard core Apple fanboy, you gotta admit — HTC Touch Diamond looks good. The TouchFLO 3D rocks and is certainly one of the best (if not the best) UI for Windows Mobile. And now you can at least try to see how it would work on the iPhone.

A jailbroken device is required and afterwards you just need to search for iPhoneFLO in Installer.app and take it from there. If you have something constructive to say about the theme, please use the comments bellow. Otherwise, please don’t use us for flame wars. Thanks. :)

The Wall Street Journal launches free news reader app for BlackBerry users

Posted by Dusan on Friday, August 22nd, 2008 at 1:59 am under RIM, Content, Applications

WSJ.com Mobile ReaderThe Wall Street Journal seems to think BlackBerry users are more important than those using other mobile phones. Hence, they’ve recently launched a dedicated mobile app to provide CrackBerry addicts with access to all the news from their network for free. The so called WSJ.com Mobile Reader allows users to read latest headlines, summaries and even full articles from WSJ website and from other sites of the WSJ Digital Network — including MarketWatch, Barrons and AllThingsD.

Best of all, when using WSJ.com Mobile Reader, you won’t be seeing any ads. The monetization part seems still “work in progress,” but somehow I’ve no doubts they [ads] will start appearing in no time. Something’s gotta give, after all…

To try out the WSJ.com Mobile Reader, hop over to this page on The Wall Street Journal’s website and take it from there.

Stewart Copeland makes BlackBerry Bold sounds cool

RIM don’t want to miss with the BlackBerry Bold. They want to cover every single detail of the device, ringtones included. That being said they’ve commissioned former drummer for The Police, Stewart Copeland, to create an array of “smartphone soundtrack” for the BlackBerry Bold.

Copeland has creating a unique five-note melody “theme” for the just-launched smartphone, which was later expanded into a percussive minute-long track simply named “Bold” that’s preloaded into the device’s “Sample Songs” folder. In addition, a softer version with a fade-in is used as an “alarm tone”, while six variations (excerpts form various parts of the Bold theme) are available as ringtones.

Want to hear how this sounds? Hop over to APCmag.com where you can listen to The Bold theme, Bold alarm and Bold ringtones…

Flowberry theme brings Mac OS look to a BlackBerry near you

Posted by Dusan on Monday, August 4th, 2008 at 1:21 am under RIM, Content, Applications

Flowberry theme

Here’s the theme for all the Mac fans out there using a BlackBerry smartphone. If your company can’t or don’t want to buy you an iPhone, you can still enjoy the “Apple experience” on your CrackBerry, while extending your push-email addiction at the same time.

The theme is called Flowberry and it features a pseudo Cover Flow, making a BlackBerry device look as Apple-ish as possible. The problem, though, is that the home screen icons are locked in. That may not be the issue in case you only need a fast access to the basic stuff. Unchangeable home screen icons are: Messages, Calendar, Address Book, Media, SMS/MMS, BlackBerry Messenger, MemoPad, and Keyboard Lock. If that’s good enough for you hop over to Bplay’s website (the folks behind the theme) and grab Flowberry for $6.99. All BlackBerry models are reportedly supported, though animation performance is optimal with software 4.3 or higher.

A short demo of the theme in action follows after the jump.
