Gentlemen, start your iPhones! Gameloft has just released its entry into the simulation racing space with ‘GT Racing Motor Academy‘ for the iPhone. Its got 100 fully licensed vehicles across 25 real world car manufacturers, which considering this is an iPhone title is a huge feat.
GT Racing Motor Academy includes a career mode with 6-player races which can be played locally or online. You can also test drive, buy any of the over 100 vehicles in the game, or just look at how shiny those paint jobs look. It also has full Gameloft LIVE support for you trophy seekers out there.
From the looks of it, this could be a game that Gran Turismo fans could certainly enjoy. The App Store has a bunch of racing games, but none that can be considered a serious entry into the simulation space. Depending on GT Racing Motor Academy’s success, I’m sure we could see more serious simulation racing titles instead of another kart racer.
If I could name one game for the iPhone I’ve been most looking forward to, it has to be PopCap Games’ Plants Vs. Zombies. The game was supposed to be released on the App Store in late January, but was pushed back. It looks like our very short wait is finally over as PopCap Games announced today Plants Vs. Zombies will be making its debut on the iPhone on February 15th.
If you’re a fan of tower defense games, then you’ll certainly enjoy Plants Vs. Zombies as it puts a different spin on the popular game type. Zombies are walking across your lawn and you need to set various plants down in order to defend your home. The zombies players encounter become more difficult over time, equipping various armors and tools in order to invade your home.
When it comes to god games for the iPhone, the king at the moment seems to be Bolt Creative’s Pocket God as it not only sells for $.99, but it’s actually a fun game with continued support by Bold Creative by way up regular updates. Ngmoco’s GodFinger, however, might be the game to finally be able to compete with the juggernaut that is Pocket God.
In episode 2-1 of the ngmoshow, GodFinger producer Stephanie Morgan is interviewed to find out what exactly GodFinger is. The developers behind GodFinger have a lot of experience with god games, namely Black & White and the Fable series, which with that info alone is one of the main reasons why GodFinger is on my radar. We also get a quick little demo that shows what exactly we all can expect when GodFinger is released on the App Store ‘Soon’.
Sega will be launching Sonic The Hedgehog 4 this summer across platforms. The upcoming game will initially be available for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and fourth platform, which SonicStadium says is the iPhone. The move makes perfect sense, though we would expect to see the game released for Nintendo DS and PSP, as well.
Anyway, Sonic’s fourth sequel will keep the 2D platform look and feel, boasting enhanced graphics and gameplay. And we have a short demo video to show you what to expect. Here it comes… enjoy!
Gameloft will be releasing a sequel to its popular iPhone title – Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes (AppStore link), as the game enters the final stages of development. The successor will be called “Brother in Arms 2: Global Front” and will see you fighting Nazis across 6 different locations, including Normandy as well as lesser explored theatres of the Pacific and Africa.
It’s a first-person shooter that occasionally snaps into a 3rd person perspective when hiding behind cover. Moreover, in addition to the single player mode, BiA 2 will also support up to 6 players, meaning you won’t find it boring even after finishing the game.
And now the screenshots, to get you prepared for the official launch. Enjoy!
Not only does Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team (or SAHDMT for short) does have one of the greatest names I’ve heard a video game developer ever have, but they also have combined the fun of kicking a soccer ball around with the fun of brutally murdering zombies.
With that in mind, and my years of killing virtual zombies, I decided to take their flagship title, Pro Zombie Soccer, for a spin.
EA Mobile released its next installment in the Spore franchise, Spore Creatures, last week for the iPhone / iPod Touch. To help celebrate its launch, EA Mobile has given us a code to giveaway to one of our lucky readers.
We first got a look at the game at CES in Las Vegas and we were certainly impressed. You’re able to customize your Spore creature in many ways and tilting the iPhone to navigate your creature through the game world would ensure pretty much anyone can play the game.
The rules of the giveaway are simple: Just leave a comment. It really is that simple. Just be sure to use a valid email address so the winner can be contacted. The giveaway will run for a straight 24 hours since we’d like to be able to give everyone a chance to submit their entry. Also, please only leave one comment as we’re only allowing one entry per person.
[Update: The contest is over. Congratulations to John!]
One of the biggest issues plaguing the gaming scene is how divided all of the major platforms are. Playstation 3 players can only interact and play with Playstation Network users, Xbox 360 players have Xbox LIVE, and the Wii…. well, let’s just not even get into the Wii’s online service. When it comes to mobile platforms, the rules of the console market don’t really apply since none of them have their proprietary service similar to what Sony & Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) have. Which is why I was surprised with how long it took for there to be games that can be played against other players cross-platform on mobile devices.
Mobile platform games developer Com2us recently shot a video showing how their game, Homerun Battle 3D, can be played on both the iPhone, as well as a phone running Android OS. In the video, two players are pitted against one another in a homerun derby. If you look at the top of each player’s screen, you’ll see a gauge indicating their progress against their opponent, which is proof enough that the game is indeed linked to the other. Hopefully cross-platform gaming is something other developers will pursue since the Android gaming market is just starting to take off.
Way back in Dec. of 2009, I reviewed a title from Bulypix called ‘Twin Blades‘. Normally, the game retails for $2.99, but for today only, the game is completely free to download.
Twin Blades can be best described as a side-scrolling hack-n-slash game that’s full of zombies, hot nuns, and very large scythes. As you progress through the game, you’re able to upgrade your character’s arsenal to better take on the hordes of enemies that gradually become more difficult. For the low, low price of free, it should be a no-brainer that you should definitely give this game a try.
