We’d almost forgotten about Samsung’s intention to launch an Adidas-branded handset, and now we’re seeing it in the flesh. The Samsung F110 is really real, and is pretty much what we expected. With Apple’s having made nice with Nike, Samsung couldn’t just stand idly-by and watch all the fitness freaks out there giving Apple all those fitness-dollars.

The smudge-loving Samsung Adidas F110 comes to us as a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM slider handset. The main draw here, as you might expect, are the fitness oriented features. A dedicated “Fitness button” will serve up information about your heart rate, distance run, calories burned and running time – that is, as long as you use the pedometer accessory and hook up an external heart-rate monitor.

Unlike the Nike + iPod, the Samsung F110 will also detects when you heart is in danger of beating itself out of your chest and will tell you when to slow your roll. A nice feature for those of us that don’t know how to take it easy in our workouts.

A workout-application, miCoach, puts the power of a personal trainer in your cellphone. MiCoach offers 220 different training programs that are downloaded through the fitness website, and tailors your workout based on an initial assessment run. Whether you’re trying to lose weight or build up some cardio-endurance, the miCoach application will guide you through the most effective workout to achieve your goals. Actually, miCoach is incredibly reminiscent of the Nike+iPod workout-tracking website. Well, you can’t patent a good idea (wait….).

Like we mentioned, the Samsung Adidas F110 is a quad-band GSM slider with EDGE connectivity. There’s a 2-inch screen, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 megapixel camera, and 1GB of internal storage in there too. So, if you need help tracking your workout or just need a personal-trainer on the cheap, the Samsung Adidas F110 might be just the ticket – look for the Samsung F110 to launch next month. Price is unknown.
