Sagem Wireless launched a new device for the over 50’s market – Cosyphone. As you can presume for yourself, it’s an easy to use, candybar-shaped phone with clear UI and big separated buttons that additionally micro-vibrate to assure the user has pressed the right key. However, there’s a twist thanks to the use of NFC (near-field communications) technology, thanks to which Cosyphone users can access the phone’s functions without actually scrolling through menus. This is made possible using the so called “shortcut cards,” which can be pre-configured and customized for calling friends and family, or services such as doctors or the supermarket. Once that is set, all you have to do is wave the Cosyphone over some card to activate the call or text message. These shortcut cards can also be used for data services, such as checking the weather conditions or traffic information.
The phone will come with a recharger cradle, making sure the experience is familiar — i.e. just like a regular cordless phone.
Availability and pricing information was not unveiled and all we know is that the Cosyphone will be sold through operators…
