Feeling left out of the multitouch party if you have a Windows Mobile phone with a resistive screen? Yeah, it’s going to take some hacking, but you’ll soon be able to get some multitouch goodness on your HTC handset with Windows Mobile and a resistive screen thanks to the wizards in the XDA community.
Developer Adel Al Zubeir has created a software development kit that enables pinch-to-zoom, drag, and multiple events based on gestures. This is possible because these devices still recognize two points of contact, but, from the proof-of-concept video below, it appears like you’ll only be able to move one finger at a time with the Dual-Touch SDK. It likely won’t lead to a large variety of apps for Windows Mobile phones, but it’s still cool beans and another sign of cool things developers can do when they’re given free reign.
