You may not have to wait long for the next, great Galaxy S Android phone because the Sprint Samsung Epic 4G could be hit around August 30, according to Samsung’s promotional pattern.
Android Police first noticed that Samsung posts promotional videos on its devices on or near the release of its Galaxy S handset. For example, it posted videos for the AT&T Captivate and T-Mobile Vibrant shortly after these devices were made available.
The schedule shows that the next video will showcase the Epic 4G and it will plop August 20. When you combine this with the fact that this Sprint Galaxy S phone just hit the Federal Communications Commission and that Samsung tweeted the Epic 4G will land “in a few weeks,” the August 20 time frame is quite credible.
The Epic 4G is the top-shelf Galaxy S phone, as it has a few defining features to make it stand out. Like the other Galaxy S phones, it rocks a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, 1 Ghz processor, Android 2.1 with TouchWiz 3.0 WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 5-megapixel camera. The Epic 4G will be the only American Galaxy S phone with a front-facing camera for video conferencing, a slide-out physical keyboard and access to Sprint’s growing 4G network.
Sprint’s next superphone phone will definitely be a contender for best smartphone out there but its slide-out keyboard positions it as a major competitor against the Motorola Droid 2 on Verizon. The Droid 2 is expected to hit the market in August as well, so it will be fun to watch these stellar devices battle for the hearts and minds of Android fans.
We got some hands-on time with the Epic 4G and you can see the video below. Also, if you want to know more about the Galaxy S phones, check out our full reviews of the AT&T Captivate and the T-Mobile Vibrant.
