The wait is almost over, fellow Android users who also happen to be TweetDeck fans. The TweetDeck Twitter client should be coming to Android in the form of a public beta some time at the end of this week. While there are some great Twitter clients out there for the OS, TweetDeck is sure to get some attention.
The TweetDeck blog put up a new post today saying,
First off, we’ve built Android TweetDeck from the ground up to be true multi-stream, laser focused on showing you all your friends’ cross-service activity in one app. Multi-column is still the order of the day but now columns are blended based on the type of activity rather than the service. And all this whilst retaining the most powerful functionality from each included service.
They also go on to say that the Android application will also “represent the future of iPhone and iPad applications,” and also state that some of the features that will be included with in the Android application will come to the desktop version as well. I use TweetDeck for my computer, and I love it, now that we’re finally going to see this app on Android, I’m getting even more more excited. The iPhone and iPad TweetDeck application look absolutely great and offer similar user interfaces to provide a seamless user experience across device. I can’t wait to see what the company has done with the Android version of the app.
We don’t know if all of the new TweetDeck features will remain Android-only, or if they will eventually become completely cross-platform, but in either case, it’s looking like everyone is going to win on this one. One thing I hope they will provide on launch of the app is a widget. I use two Twitter apps on my phone, the official Twitter application, as well as Twidroyd. While I like the official Twitter app, I’m not a big fan of the widget, so I use the Twidroyd app just for its widget. Something tells me that if TweetDeck does indeed come with a widget, I will be uninstalling two Twitter apps from my Android phone.
What features are you hoping for?
