Heaven knows that being a doctor, a nurse, or any other sort of medical professional is an intense and stressful job. Finding key (and critical) information when you need it is often a matter of life and death… the quicker the information is sourced, the more effective you’re going to be. With that in mind, the good folks at Nuance Communications have released a free medical version of Dragon Search named ‘Dragon Medical’.
Dragon Medical is setup for the use of medical professionals with an iPhone or iPad nearby. When in a crunch, all you need to do is open the app, and speak your search phrases. That’s it. Speak your search on a health condition, diagnoses, news, certain drugs, whatever it is you’re looking for. Dragon Medical takes your search query, and runs it through a specialized search, including Google, Medscape and Medline results. Not bad.
This could be the tip of the iceberg for Nuance, as we’ve learned the company is really going to zero in on specialized apps for different industries. Their initial offering for the medical profession seems like a sure winner to me… and it’s available for free for a limited time, so hit up the iTunes link below.
