It’s actually a pretty cool ad, as it shows off the various uses of the Apple iPad. Of course, they can’t go 30 seconds without calling the device “magical” but this is a neat little spot which does make me want to buy one of its tablets.
A few app makers get some much-appreciated publicity and the coolest one is probably Flipboard. This is dubbed a “social magazine” because it scrubs your Twitter and Facebook accounts to find links that your friends find relevant. From what I’ve seen and heard, it’s a fascinating new way to dig through your news feeds.
The company also shows off its iBooks platform briefly and this facing a stiff challenge from Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The Amazon Kindle app is probably the best-known but Barnes & Noble is also trying to get some eyeballs with its new Nook app.
I was skeptical about how successful this tablet would be but the Apple iPad has been a smashing success. The company has already sold more than three million units in a few months and there’s no sign of the momentum stopping. We’re even hearing rumors that the company will introduce a 7-inch Apple iPad later this year.
The Apple iPad has all the momentum in the tablet space but we should soon see some credible competitors. We know that Research In Motion is working on a “BlackPad,” HPalm should have a webOS tablet soon and we can also expect a slew of these devices powered by Android and Chrome OS.
Oh man, wouldn’t it be great if someone put together a list of the five most-anticipated tablet? We did exactly that and you should weigh in on what you’re looking forward to in the comments.
