Archos 32 Android tablet caught at the FCC

It seems Android phone tablet plans were not scrapped after all. Or at least the presence of the Archos 32 at the FCC’s website says something like that.

We’re talking about a touchscreen device with a 3.2-inch 400×240 pixels display that made us think why it’s called “tablet” at all. Go figure…

In addition to the not-that-big screen, there are also dedicated buttons for home, back, enter and menu. Rest of the specs include a 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 8GB of built-in storage, Android 2.1, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, video out and a camera that can take 640×480 pixels video clips.

The question now is when will the Android 32 be released, if ever. Honestly, I don’t see much space on the market for such a device, though I may be wrong. Maybe Archos wants to compete with the iPod Touch, which as we all know proved a big success for Apple. Do they have what it takes for that? I don’t think so. What do you say?
