One of the good things about the impending flood of Android tablets – like the Allgo Stamp tablet that you see above – is that they will drastically vary in price ranges. We’ve seen tablets ranging from $35 to $500, and while we’ll likely see hardware that tops $500, it’s clear that there will likely be an Android tablet that will fit your needs and your budget. One of the newest additions on the lower-end of the line up is Allgo’s $50 tablet, dubbed the Stamp.
The Indian company Allgo has been showing off their new Stamp prototype, which will cost a little more than the much chattered about, yet not necessarily highly anticipated, $35 Android tablet. Allgo’s tablet will be priced at a whopping $50 bucks without a large order, but an order of a million units would likely drop the price of the tablet even lower. Since all we know about the Stamp is what’s included in the video below, detailed specs are pretty sparse. What we do know in the way of hardware specifications is that the device will sport a 7 inch resistive touchscreen display, with a 480 x 800 resolution. If that’s not enough to make you want to pre-order one right now… Well, we don’t blame you.
The Stamp prototype seen in the video below is running Android 1.6, otherwise known as Donut. We’re not sure if the Stamp will ship with a higher version of Android, or if it will be upgraded in the near future, but we’re just thankful that it won’t be stuck with Cupcake. If we can bet on anything, it’d be that this thing will likely never make nice with Android 3.0 Gingerbread when the new OS version is released this fall. With the Stamp’s price tag, it likely won’t be able to handle all the features that Gingerbread will throw at it, but we’ll let it slide since it’s just so damn cheap. We’ll keep an eye out for the Stamp at IFA Berlin 2010, even if we have no intention of getting one. India is making some of the cheapest, and most promising Android tablets, and we won’t be forgetting that anytime soon.
