One of the most anticipated handsets to hit market this year will undoubtedly be the Motorola Atrix 4G Android superphone. With a dual-core processor, and the ability to turn itself into a full-fledged netbook, among other things, the Atrix sets itself apart from the plethora of smartphones out there today. With the launch of the handset right around the corner, we’re starting to see Atrix ads popping up here and there. Below we have a promo video of the powerful handset, showing off some of its special powers.
You don’t even see the handset until about a minute into the video, all you see in the beginning is the laptop dock that turns the Atrix into a netbook. You can surf the web in one window, and have the phone operate in another, all while charging the phone, as you can see in the video. Just under a minute into the video, you’ll find the Atrix hooked into the laptop skeleton. You certainly won’t need the laptop dock to enjoy the handset, but to some people it will be a must-have accessory.
The video goes on to give you the nitty-gritty on the Atrix’s dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 innards. If you’ve been paying attention to this handset, then you should already know about the 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard memory (expandable to 48GB with a micro SD card), a fingerprint reader, and all of the other standard smartphone bells and whistles packed into this bad boy. Motorola Mobility’s stock may have taken a dive in the past few days, but something tells me that the Atrix 4G and the upcoming Android Honeycomb tablet, the Xoom, should help them get back on track.
To sweeten the deal further, the Atrix could land at some places for as little as $150, slicing $50 off of the expected price we’ll see when it hits AT&T stores. What would be even better, however, is if we were to eventually see some sort of buy one get one deal with this device. Verizon and T-Mobile have been going crazy with these types deals, and if AT&T threw such a promotional offer to their customers, we’d likely see an even bigger draw to the Atrix.
So now we play the waiting game, but since we expect this game-changing handset to hit sometime in late February, you don’t have much longer to wait.
