![Tap Me unveils mobile in-game ad platform [Less intrusive ads are coming]](http://images.intomobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/z_tap-me.jpg)
A company called Tap Me wants to revolutionize in-game advertising and they may be onto something. Instead of making us watch some stupid video or show us a banner in the top corner, they have something better in mind. Their idea is to serve less intrusive ads to gamers, while providing advertisers with better context for their product placement(s).
But there is a problem. From what I’ve understood, implementing Tap Me’s code isn’t as easy as adding few lines of code to have AdMob ads appearing in your game. The company offers advertisers few options:
- To sponsor a power-up – let’s say you want your character to move faster, voila just grab “quickness” and your character suddenly starts running. Once you’re on a page to add that feature, a sponsor’s message appears.
- To sponsor a leaderboard – this is definitely non-intrusive and (now that I’m thinking) something OpenFeint could easily offer as well.
- To interact with gamers and offer them incentives for action (i.e. retweet this message for additional 1,000 points).
Sounds interesting but as I said, not that easily implemented. Then again I’m not a programmer and I haven’t seen Tap Me’s code – maybe it’s really easy to work with it. If anyone of you had a chance to give it a try, we’re eager to hear what you think about it. Comments form is all yours…
