The HTC EVO 3D is finally available for Sprint and you’ve hopefully read our review by now and maybe you even purchased one for yourself. Well, a lot of IntoMobile readers did buy it and we asked for your early opinions and you definitely came through.
In the post, “Did you buy a Sprint HTC EVO 3D? What do you think?” many of you sounded off on the latest Android 2.3 handset. The results were mostly positive but there were a few negative responses, which is to be expected from any new device.
We didn’t have space for everyone please let us know what you think of this phone.
Reader Dove had a nuanced approach and seemed to love the thing:
I’m a huge fan. I’ve played with it enough to say this as my first comment about the phone: It is fast!!! WAY faster than my Evo 4g ever was. Everything from calls, to texts, to web, to apps are instantaneous. So far, no waiting for anything to load.
The 3D is stunning. That being said, you’re hooked on the 3D as soon as you see it, and there’s simply not enough 3D content out there yet to satisfy the cravings. This phone will change that, however, I promise. Multitudes of 3D content will soon become available because of this phone.
The Green Hornet in 3D (which as mentioned above, sucks) is an amazing example of the phone’s 3D capabilites. I watched it – all but against my will – for the second time, just to be impressed by the capabilites of this “phone.”
The photos and videos that the Evo 3D take can be amazing, but must before viewed from just the right angle (or you’re obviously viewing multiple super-imposed images) for them to be as impressive as the movie included with the phone. There’s still some advancements to be made with the camera technology, but hey – it’s a cell phone.
They did add a shutter button, however, on the side of the phone, so that it feels more like a digital camera when taking pictures (either 2D or 3D). I highly recommend this phone. There’s room for improvement, but as an owner of this phone, no one will have a cooler phone than you.
Derrico Brown was very happy for the most part:
I love it. It’s faster, better game play, more memory, slimmer, has the cool 3D feature (which has a lot of future potential), better display, dedicated camera button, and all the same 4G data speeds I had with my EVO 4G. They only thing I miss is the root. I use a lot of apps that require root, and i love flashing new roms/mods. But still a happy customers
Riley Freeman also had a nice take:
It’s a very nice upgrade from the EVO 4G that I really do miss. The Sense 3.0 is definitely the highlight of the phone for me. So much added customization that wasn’t included in the last version of Sense. There are so many themes that you can download from HTC that change the color of the taskbars and menus of your phone. I love the lockscreen functionality, as well. The 3D is a lot better than I expected. The pics look pretty good. The EVO 3D is very fast and extra snappy, thanks to the 1.2GHz dual-core processor. My biggest gripes are the new placement of the HMDI/microUSB charge port and the lack of a built-in kickstand. Otherwise, I’m glad I made the upgrade.
