We have great news for you Twitter power users out there, as the wildly popular social media site plans to revamp Tweetdeck for its devoted base of hardcore users. Resurrecting Tweetdeck slightly strays away from Twitter’s recent “mainstream” approach, and puts the focus back where it should be — you, the user.
Apparently, the folks over at Twitter have been hard at work, and is busy hiring engineers to work on what they call “next generation” mobile applications under the Tweetdeck brand. This is from a recent job listing:
The TweetDeck team, working from London, is looking for new team members to work on our cutting edge Android app. We’re building the next generation of a suite of clients that millions of people love and use everyday. You’ll work on our small team, own the projects that you work on, and have a great time shipping products which change the way people communicate.
I’ve never had a fundamental issue with Twitter’s new look, but like many, I dislike how the site buried direct messages and other features loyal users have grown accustomed to over the past couple of years — it’s just not done right. In addition, the old DM’s seem to always pop up as new messages from time to time — an issue I never had in the prior version.
That said, I’m stoked Twitter hans’t forgotten where it came from; it’s amazing to see the team use such a great asset like Tweetdeck to do something cool for us average (non-Hollywood) tweeps who enjoy fully functioning DM’s and simple custom lists building.
