Another display news though not as nearly as interesting as the previous one. This time we have Sharp saying that it’s upgrading its current displays to make them slimmer and clearer. Moreover, the Japanese company’s new technology, called IGZO, will also make future screens more efficient, reducing power consumption along the way.
The best part — as far as Sharp shareholder’s are concerned — is that IGZO requires little adjustment to production lines or investment, with upgrades set to start later this year.
In addition to LCD screens, Sharp says that IGZO can also be used for OLED screens, though costs are bit higher here.
Aside from Sharp, other companies like Samsung and Sony are also working on their own paper-thin displays…
