Looks like Sony is preparing to beef-up its mobile game next year when apparently the rumored Odin smartphone will be unveiled. From what we’re hearing, it will announced in early 2013 boasting Qualcomm’s quad-core S4 Pro processor, 5-inch 1080p screen and 2GB of RAM. In other words, it could easily get the Japanese company back to the map as a serious contender in the “smartphone wars.”
The information comes from this thread at Esato forums and PhoneArena believes there’s some truth in here, justifying the claim with the fact that such screen panels (5-inch 1080p) should enter the full-scale production soon. Japan Display — which is a joint venture between Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi — will make the screen, so it’s easy to imagine that one of the founding members could be among the first clients.
But the rumor doesn’t stop here, as it is said that a bigger, 6-inch device with similar specs will follow shortly afterwards. Can’t wait for the 2013 CES. 😉
