Skype for Windows Phone 8 sheds its beta tag

Skype for Windows Phone 8 has finally shed away the beta tag. Version 2.5 carries a slew of changes such as fixing some crashes, video calling and messaging bugs. Perhaps the biggest addition is the improvements made to Messenger buddies.

The key change is message notifications for Messenger buddies are now displayed by default in Skype for Windows Phone 8. With Skype, Microsoft is trying to bring many of the same kind of services and integration you see in WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. Right now it’s unclear to how these new changes will interact with the operating systems’ current Messenger integration. We would like to think that Microsoft will automatically disable notifications within the built-in client.

Anyhoo, if you want to get the new Skype, head over to the Windows Phone Store here. Let us know how you like the new update?
