Redditor samtate discovered a pretty amazing easter egg in Google Play Games. Just enter in the Konami code (hint: just start swiping) from within the app!
Here’s the simple instructions from samtate’s reddit post:
- Go onto the “Play Now” screen.
- Swipe Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right (Konami Code)
- Press B, A, Start in the pop-up.
- ???
- Profit
The Konami code’s been around since it first appeared in Gradius in 1986, but most American kids first used it to gain 30 lives playing Contra on the NES. The code went on to be used in numerous Konami games and several others. Now that the children of the 80’s are the coders of today, the infamous Konami code often pops up as an easter egg on websites and in apps, sometimes even leading to real functionality. Today’s revelation of the Konami code in Google Play Games is just the latest in long series of easter eggs using the button combo!
