‘Breathometer’ a Breathalyzer for Your Smartphone – Now You Really Don’t Have An Excuse for Drunk Driving!

Hey it happens, sometimes you have a little too much to drink. Now a new smartphone accessory could save you from getting behind the wheel if you’re over the limit. The Breathometer plugs into the headphone jack of your smartphone (much like Square) and lets you blow before you go!

It comes with a companion app that quickly gives you a read out of your blood alcohol content. If you blow above the limit, the app will also help you find alternative transportation!

Hopefully the functionality of the Breathometer accessory will find its way into other apps. In particular, drunk dial prevention apps like Drunkblocker could really benefit from the functionality. Just one blow and your ex girlfriend’s number will be off limits until morning!!

The startup recently secured $2 Million in funding, after a successful indegogo campaign and an appearance on the venture funding reality show, Shark Tank. The Breathometer system will cost you $50 and is currently available for pre-order on the company’s site. It works with iOS devices that can run iOS 7 and Android devices that are running version 2.3 and above.
