New poll suggests Apple has “oversold Siri”

Intelligent Voice has commissioned a poll of over 2,000 Americans to see whether they had used Siri in iOS7, what they thought of its capabilities, and whether they had been “oversold” by Apple. And the results were a little shocking, to say the least.

The company surveyed two different groups of people to rate Siri, though both groups came back with almost identical results.

The first group, asked if they felt that Apple had “oversold the voice recognition capabilities of Siri” came back with 46% agreeing. The second question, which was asked of a different sample group, looked more at how people rated accuracy. They came back with a 44% “Hit or Miss” or worse score.

Intelligent Voice concludes that the whole voice recognition industry is still in its infancy and should be careful not to over-promise and under-deliver. Managing people’s expectations is not easy and perhaps Apple should take something from the results of this survey.

Meanwhile, we’re eager to know – how do you like Siri and how it works for you?
