Wi-Fi only Sony Xperia Z Ultra coming soon?

Sony phablet fans forgive me – I think the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is way too big to be carried around. And guess what – the Japanese company thinks that too. So it’s working on a Wi-Fi only model that will be sold like a tablet rather than a smartphone.

Such device has already cleared the FCC and has now resurfaced on AnTuTu benchmarks. The release date is still unknown but as far as I can/can’t tell, its launch is imminent. Actually, the Japanese firm is probably timing the launch and may opt to wait for the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to officially announce this phone-less phablet.

Aside from the lack of cellular connectivity, this remains the same Xperia Z Ultra under the hood, sporting Qualcomm’s fast Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, huge 6.44-inch full HD screen, and a pair of cameras (8MP on the back, 2MP front-facing one). All said, it sounds like a perfect tablet for the living room… or so I think. What do you say?
