Video: iOS in the Car Walkthrough

Thanks to developer Steven Troughton-Smith, we now have a look at Apple’s iOS in the car, which was first spotted at WWDC 2013. The interface was included in iOS 7.0.3, part of Apple’s developer releases of iOS. These releases let developers muck around with iOS features before they have become a reality.

Troughton-Smith captured the interface by emulating a vehicle display on his desktop, which revealed a full-screen map, touch controls on the top and bottom of the screen, and a software home button which will allow you to navigate back to the homescreen.

The video walk-through reveals features such as entering destinations by speaking to an iDevice. Aside from that, nothing to crazy as far as features are concerned. Keep in mind iOS in the Car is still in beta, and will be adding many additional features before it sees the light of day. Vehicle manufacturers such as Honda, Mercedes, Ferrari, Nissan, Chevrolet, Kia, Hyundai, Jaguar and Volvo have pledged their support of iOS in the Car, but have made no announcements as to when we can expect to see iOS 7 in full effect in our vehicles.
