Sony unveils Xperia Themes

Sony is launching a nice treat for its Xperia users who like customizing their phones. The new Xperia Themes come as part of the recent Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade, allowing you to skin your Xperia smartphone in a number of different ways.

The best part is that Xperia Themes go beyond backgrounds and screensavers — you can skin up to 280 assets including navigation bar, icons, checkboxes, switches, sliders, buttons and folders.

Personally I’m not the one Sony is targeting with Xperia Themes. I do like to organize my apps and have them easily accessible whenever they’re needed, but changing the graphic elements of a theme isn’t my cup of tea. That said, I must also add that most of my friends are going nuts over making their phone look unique. They’ll be trying out any number of different launchers, icon sets and so on until they find the perfect combination… Which will last for about a month and then do it all over again. For those folks — presuming they own an Xperia smartphone — this comes as a blessing.

Sony made sure the included themes look amazing and I’m sure folks will jam the servers while trying to change yet another color/icon on their gadget. Here’s a short video to show you how this works:
