Hey Canada, fancy a Samsung Galaxy S? Looks like a treat could be in store for the true north strong and free.
While Samsung is busting their you-know-what’s when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S launch in the US (they’ve officially announced it for every major US wireless carrier), not much has been heard north of the border… and I’ve heard more than a few times now ‘when are WE getting it!?’. Well, my dear Canadians, it may be coming sooner than we expect.
Bell is slated to launch the Galaxy S on their HSPA+ network sometime in July. This is good news for those that prefer big blue, but not all hope is lost if you’re a TELUS or Rogers customer. At the bottom of the official press release, one will notice the following:
Canadian consumers can anticipate the release of additional Galaxy S smartphones throughout the rest of 2010.
So there you have it. There’s hope for other major Canadian carriers yet. I have a feeling TELUS and Rogers will be hopping on board before you know it (and if it’s not with the Galaxy S, surely it’ll be some other form of Samsung Android-packing goodness).
Many carriers in the US are rebranding the Galaxy S with their own moniker, and I can’t help but think Rogers and a few of the other carriers will do the same when the time comes… But we’ll see when we get there.
The Samsung Galaxy S packs Android 2.1 OS, 1Ghz Hummingbird processor, 5 megapixel camera, 4″ Super AMOLED touchscreen display (looks awesome), HD video recording capabilities at 720p, Bluetooth 3.0, and expansion to 32 GB via microSD.
