SPB Software launched a new version of its mobile TV app, SPB TV, for BlackBerry smartphones. Unlike the original software, this one is available as a free download, supported by non-intrusive ads which are loaded during the channel buffering time.

SPB TV 2.0 builds on top of the earlier release — that included the catalogue with more than 150 channels in over 20 languages, TV browser with quick channel previews, TV guide with the list of current and upcoming TV shows, fast channel launch and switching — to add a video on demand (VOD) option and better support for Advanced Video Codec (H.264) for improving video quality.

Thus far SPB TV has been downloaded by 3 million users, which can enjoy real TV-watching experience while on the. In addition to BlackBerry, the application is also available for iOS (with iPad users having its own special version), Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Meamo (Nokia N900), Bada and webOS platforms, and even some feature phones.
