Thus far we got used to seeing a number of unknown companies entering the Android tablet market. The new contender, Andy Pad, comes from the UK with a promise to deliver “high quality spec” product for less than 200 GBP. And while “we’ve heard it all before,” this little company may prove to be a winner after all. As far as I’ve understood their upcoming baby — most likely a 7-inch tablet — will run the “the latest Google open-source operating system” which is Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread (until Google opens up Honeycomb). We’re also hoping that “quality spec” will include a capacitive rather than resistive touchscreen, decent amount of RAM and a 1GHz processor. Sure we would love a dual-core CPU, but that’s not realistic with a sub-200 GBP tablet.
At the moment we only know that the first Andy Pad product will feature full 1080p HDMI out, micro USB port and support for microSD cards. Additional details will be released shortly…
