Nokia C2-03: Touch screen enabled feature phone slider that takes two SIM cards

Earlier today at Nokia Connection 2011 in Singapore the Finnish handset maker announced the N9, one of the most advanced devices they’ve ever built. In addition to that ultra high specced smartphone they also spent a fair amount of time showing off the C2-03, a dumb phone that many of you might roll your eyes at, but will be loved by millions around the world. Now we’ve already seen this thing thanks to a handful of leaks, but today there’s an official spec sheet: the screen size isn’t mentioned, but we do know it’s got a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, can display 65k colors, and is touch enabled, there’s also a 2 megapixel camera in there, support for two SIM cards, one of which can be swapped at anytime without needing to power off the phone, dualband (900/1800 MHz) support, meaning you’re only going to be using this in Europe and Asia, a microSD card slot can handle 32 GB cards, and you can enjoy your music via either the 3.5 mm headphone jack or Bluetooth equipped accessories.

It’s incredibly doubtful that operators are going to sell this handset to their customers since the whole point of having a dual SIM device is to save money on your phone bill. One example: Call person A using one number and person B with another number, because calls on the same network are cheaper. Considering how people buy their devices in the markets where this thing will be sold (India, China, South East Asia, Eurasia, Middle East, and Africa), that’s not a problem. It’ll run you roughly 75 EUR when it ships in Q3 of this year, and it’ll be available in Chrome Black or Golden White.

Now if you had to ask us, we’d rather just carry two devices. One smartphone, and one feature phone that handles our voice and texting needs. We’re curious though: What would you do to save money?
