Galaxy A phone

A friend recently asked me about the Galaxy A phone, saying someone has told him such a device exists. At first I said “it’s a scam” but later on I did some research and found such a device in our very own database. Heck I even wrote about it in May of last year (forgot about it).

But… there’s big “but” here. To my knowledge, that phone was never released outside of South Korea. Plus there’s no reason to want one – it’s pretty much the original Galaxy S under the hood, while its processor is slightly slower, clocking at 720 MHz (the original Galaxy S rocks a 1GHz CPU), and its screen is smaller, measuring “just” 3.7 inches (versus Galaxy S’ 4-inch screen). In addition, the Samsung Galaxy A (model number SHW-M100S) also sports a 5-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 8GB of built-in storage, GPS, Bluetooth, memory card slot, and T-DMB mobile TV receiver.

So my answer to a friend and everyone else who asks about the Galaxy A phone – it does exist, but you can hardly have it. And even if you could buy one – you don’t want to. Grab the Samsung Galaxy S II, Motorola DROID RAZR or Galaxy Nexus instead. 😉
