Nexus 4 gets some T-Mobile LTE love with custom ROM & older radio

T-Mobile customers holding onto a Nexus 4 are in for quite a treat. If you’re willing to work for it, that is. Yesterday, T-Mobile went live with 7 LTE markets in the US and thanks to some custom ROMs and older device radios, you too can hook your Nexus 4 to T-Mobile’s LTE network too.

The Android 4.2.2 update updated the radio in the Nexus 4, squashing T-Mobile LTE dreams, but not all hope is lost. Custom ROMs are here to help you out and give the Nexus 4 the LTE powers many have always wanted. And these aren’t just some random custom ROMs built specifically for this feature. We’re talking CyanogenMod and AOKP, arguably the best custom ROMs available that have quite the followings behind them.

With the combination of one of these custom ROMs and the older radio flashed, you’ll be cruising on T-Mobile’s new LTE network with ease. Of course, that’s to say you live in one of the few LTE markets T-Mobile currently has LTE in. Nonetheless, if your one wish was to have a LTE-enabled Nexus 4 in the US, you’ll have just that once T-Mobile rolls out its network into more markets!
