After the ZTE Open, we have Alcatel’s Firefox OS-based OneTouch Fire getting FCC’s seal of approval to be sold in the U.S. Yet again, this doesn’t mean any U.S. carrier will sell this phone and it just could be part of Mozilla’s efforts to make Firefox OS-powered devices available for developers in the country.
Similarly to the ZTE Open, Alcatel’s baby is also a low-end smartphone with specs that include a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen, 1GHz single-core processor, 256MB of RAM, HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 3-megapixel camera on the back, and a microSD memory card slot.
All said, we expect the OneTouch Fire to cost no more than $150 with no contracts to sign though we’ll have to wait and see it hitting the retailers first. And that’s likely to happen starting with parts of Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia…
